Will a Lower Facelift Remove My Buccal Fat?

A lower facelift can restore the definition around your face and reduce the appearance of fat around the area. One of the best parts of a lower facelift is that it can remove buccal fat from the face. Double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Joseph Tamburrino at Tamburrino Plastic Surgery& Med Spa is proud to offer the lower facelift for our patients near Bucks County, Montgomery County, Philadelphia, and Doylestown, PA. We provide a safe approach to removing this fat to help you achieve a healthier look.

What is buccal fat?

Buccal fat is the fat that appears in the middle part of the cheek. It is in the hollow area under the cheekbone. Excess buccal fat can cause your face shape to look rounder or fuller. It could create a “baby face” look that isn’t always appealing.

A lower facelift can help remove excess buccal fat and reduce the round look on your face. It creates a healthier look on your face when managed well.

How is buccal fat removed?

Dr. Tamburrino can remove the buccal fat from the cheeks through a minimally invasive procedure. It can work during the lower facelift process. The buccal fat pads are easily accessible and don’t require too deep of a cut, allowing that cut to heal in less time.

A traditional procedure will require a surgeon to produce an incision inside the mouth around the inner portions of the cheek to remove the buccal fat pads. But the lower facelift doesn’t require the doctor to produce any incisions there.

The incisions for the lower facelift will be in hardly visible regions near the back part of the face. The goal is to create a space where the facelift can work without producing anything overly visible.

The buccal fat pads can be touched and cleared during the lower facelift. Minimal incisions may work around the inside part of the skin to clear these pads, producing a healthier all-around look.

The procedure takes a few hours to complete on average. We will let you know about the timeframe for the process before we start.

Is a lower facelift procedure safe?

Our team at Tamburrino Plastic Surgery & Med Spa in Doylestown, PA will ensure the lower facelift process will remain safe. We will monitor you during the work to ensure you respond well to the process without harm. We will also advise you on how the process works beforehand.
